My compost pile wont heat up?

You have to follow a recipe when you build your compost pile. It sounds like you are not using enough "green" material. You have to layer your pile for best results. Search starting a compost pile and you will find the basic recipe for starting the pile. In addition to the straw and hay that you are using you have to add stuff like grass clipping to get the nitrogen that is needed to heat the pile. The straw will add the carbon but you have no nitrogen. It is easier than it sounds but read up on it and you will get it going.
