A close friend told me she has Schizophrenia and OCD. How can I help?
My friend recently told me she has severe psychosis in the forms of Schizophrenia and OCD. Her symptoms are a part of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) from stuff in her past. She isn't being medicated or treated for it and she hasn't told any teachers at school or anything. I am trying to be supportive, but I really think she should tell teachers about it because they might be ale to help her get medication and stuff. I hadn't noticed it at all, but recently it has gotten pretty bad and neither of us knows why. She'll wring her hands during class and wash her hands 10 times a day. I am worried about her and really want to help but I am not sure how. How can I convince her to talk to the teachers at school about her Schizophrenia and OCD and what else can I do to help her? I've tried to convince her already and told her she has my support. She says she thinks the teachers will judge her and stuff, but our teachers are really excellent and I know they would only want to help. Any suggestions about how I can convince her and what else I can do to help? Thank you.
