Spots on 9 yr old inner thigh area?

My friends 9 yr old boy has a few pus filled spots on his inner thigh had a couple on his hip and ball bag, doc said chicken pox, but he's not got them anywhere else but on his body below waist, ut above the thigh? anyone have an idea other than chicken pox please??
